PSALM 116:1-19 – I LOVE THE LORD

PSALM 116:1-19 – I LOVE THE LORD
With commentary by Mrs. Ari D. Hidalgo

Psalm 116:1-19
1 I love the LORD, because he hath heard my voice and my supplications.
2 Because he hath inclined his ear unto me, therefore will I call upon him as long as I live.
3 The sorrows of death compassed me, and the pains of hell gat hold upon me: I found trouble and sorrow.
4 Then called I upon the name of the LORD; O LORD, I beseech thee, deliver my soul.
5 Gracious is the LORD, and righteous; yea, our God is merciful.
6 The LORD preserveth the simple: I was brought low, and he helped me.
7 Return unto thy rest, O my soul; for the LORD hath dealt bountifully with thee.
8 For thou hast delivered my soul from death, mine eyes from tears, and my feet from falling.
9 I will walk before the LORD in the land of the living.
10 I believed, therefore have I spoken: I was greatly afflicted:
11 I said in my haste, All men are liars.
12 What shall I render unto the LORD for all his benefits toward me?
13 I will take the cup of salvation, and call upon the name of the LORD.
14 I will pay my vows unto the LORD now in the presence of all his people.
15 Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints.
16 O LORD, truly I am thy servant; I am thy servant, and the son of thine handmaid: thou hast loosed my bonds.
17 I will offer to thee the sacrifice of thanksgiving, and will call upon the name of the LORD.
18 I will pay my vows unto the LORD now in the presence of all his people,
19 In the courts of the LORD’s house, in the midst of thee, O Jerusalem. Praise ye the LORD.

Shalom dear ones in Yeshua (Jesus) our Strength and our Redeemer,

May your day be ‘a yom tov’ (a good day) in the LORD!

The Psalm of the Day: Psalm 116:1-19. ‘I LOVE THE LORD’, (VERSE 1A).
Hebrew: ’A-HAV-TI: LOVE. YAHWEH: LORD

The Psalmist says …

‘I love the LORD, because he hath heard my voice and my supplications.’
(Verse 1).

There are so many ways that the Lord has shwn His love towards us.

Even, in our Psalm, the Psalmist mentions several things that he was going through, and how the LORD delivered him.

“The LORD preserveth the simple: I was brought low, and he helped me.”
(Verse 6).

The Psalmist was in trouble and he called upon the LORD and He heard his supplications, as we read …

“For thou hast delivered my soul from death, mine eyes from tears, and my feet from falling.”
(Verse 8).

Look at all the commitments that the Psalmist (with a heart of thanksgiving) makes unto the LORD from verses 9-19.

“I will walk before the LORD in the land of the living.”
(Verse 9).

“What shall I render unto the LORD for all his benefits toward me?”
(Verse 12).

“I will take the cup of salvation, and call upon the name of the LORD.”
(Verse 13).

“I will pay my vows unto the LORD now in the presence of all his people.”
(Verse 14).

With a thankful heart … he says … take a look.

“I will offer to thee the sacrifice of thanksgiving, and will call upon the name of the LORD.”
(Verse 17).

He finds himself in Jerusalem (the Holy City of God) praising the LORD.

“In the courts of the LORD’S house, in the midst of thee, O Jerusalem. Praise ye the LORD.”
(Verse 19).

The LORD has shown forth His love towards us and the whole world through His sacrifice on the tree.

(John 3:16,17)

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

“For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.”

We thank the LORD for our Great Salvation!

With our whole heart of thanksgiving we thank the God of Israel (Yeshua our LORD) for loving us, with uncondtional love.

Some day we will find ourselves in the midst of the LORD in the holy city of Jerusalem, ‘in the courts of the LORD’S house’, praising (with tears of joy) the LORD for His great love towards us. Our service of praise and thanksgiving unto Him will be all the day long throughout eternity.
(Verse 19).

“We love him, because he first loved us.”
(I John 4:19).

We love you LORD, for your great sacrifice you made on the tree for us to be redeemed from all of our unrighteousness.
Look up Isaiah 53, which is a mini Gospel that was prophetically describing the Righteous Servant (Our Messiah, Yeshua (Jesus) our Lord Who is ‘The Suffering and Righteous Servant’, sent from and by God.

He is from the stem of Jesse, a Branch that will grow out of his roots: (Isaiah 11:1-5).

We love you LORD, for your precious lovingkindness, and mercy that is new every morning. We love you for you compassion that fail not.
(Lamentations 3:22-23).

And the list goes on and on…

Shalom, the LORD bless you dear ones who, ‘walk before the LORD in the land of the living.’
(Verse 9).

In Yeshua’s Precious Name,

Mrs. Ari D. Hidalgo
